Kentucky Aid

The State of Kentucky offers both merit-based and need-based financial assistance to eligible Kentucky residents attending college within the state. To determine a student’s eligibility for Kentucky’s need-based awards, the student must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students can apply here.

  • Merit-based award.
  • Students earn scholarship money during high school for high grades and test scores.
  • Students can receive scholarship money for four years in college as long as they maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and remain on track to graduate.
  • No application is necessary to receive your KEES money. The award will be administered by your high school, Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, and your university.
  • Need-based award.
  • Students must file a FAFSA to be considered for a CAP Grant. Students should file a FAFSA as soon as possible after the application opens.
  • Amounts awarded up to $5,300.
  • Students must be Pell-eligible to receive a CAP Grant.
  • Need-based award.
  • Students must file a FAFSA to be considered for the KTG. Students should file a FAFSA as soon as possible after the application opens.
  • The KTG is available to Kentucky residents attending a private college or university in Kentucky.
  • Amounts awarded up to $3,300.
