MARY, SEAT OF WISDOM CHAPEL
The Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel is the physical focal point and spiritual heart of the Thomas More University campus. It is also the physical representation of the University’s Catholic Identity, and it affords the campus community a spiritual space that supports and complements the pursuit of intellectual excellence and personal growth. We also welcome the broader faith community to worship here regularly, as we offer daily and Sunday mass times during the academic year. Thank you for your generous support of this vital sacred place.
The groundbreaking of Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel began in August of 2011, but the dream of building a free-standing chapel has been long-held in the hearts of many. Founded as a teacher’s college in 1921 by the Benedictine Sisters as Villa Madonna College, Thomas More University is the Catholic college of the Diocese of Covington, Ky. Welcoming students from all faiths, Thomas More University challenges students to examine the ultimate meaning of life, their place in the world, and their responsibility to others.
On December 9, 2012, Mary Seat of Wisdom Chapel opened its doors and became a campus and community landmark and a symbol of the school’s identity as a Catholic educational and cultural institution. It now serves as the physical focal point and spiritual heart of the Thomas More University campus. Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel includes a meditation chapel that is open 24 hours a day, serving as a welcoming place for spiritual reflection for students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends of Thomas More University. Mass is held Monday-Friday at Noon and Sundays at 8 p.m., with exception of holidays and summer break.
Housed within Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel is the University’s Office of Campus Ministry. The 8,500 square foot chapel seats more than 300 people and is available to alumni and supporters of Thomas More University for weddings.
