Bishop Roger J. Foys Ministry and Service Scholarship

The Bishop Roger J. Foys Ministry and Service Scholarship intends to form the next generation of Saints to impact the Church in the Northern Kentucky-Greater Cincinnati area and beyond. The Scholarship is designated for students who are passionate about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and who want to share that Gospel in various ways. There are two fellowship opportunities within this overarching Scholarship. Recipients of each Scholarship opportunity are highly motivated students prepared to serve as Christ-like role models to the Thomas More University community. Participants will receive opportunities to strengthen their spirituality, be formed in the faith, cultivate strong relationships, enhance their leadership skills, and serve as the hands and feet of Christ in the broader Thomas More community.

These students will serve at a variety of events, such as Mass and other liturgies, Campus Ministry events, and engagement with faith and culture through the Center for Faith, Mission and Catholic Education. Requirements depend on the particular Scholarship program in which the student is placed during the application process.

Students who are selected to receive the Bishop Foys Scholarship are eligible for financial assistance to offset their tuition. The amount may vary based on factors that include academic merit, ministry and/or service experience, references, and the interview process.

Bishop Foys Ministry and Service Scholars

“What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” – John 1:4–5

Members of this Scholarship at Thomas More University have encountered and experienced the light of Christ in their own lives and seek to be that light to others. By being incorporated into a community of believers on campus, they serve all aspects of the campus to spread the message that Light Conquers Darkness.

Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati Fellows

“To live without a faith, without a heritage to defend, without battling constantly for truth, is not to live but to ‘get along;’ we must never just ‘get along.’”– St. Pier Giorgio Frassati

Inspired by Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati’s call “Verso l’alto,” (“To the heights!”), Thomas More University’s Frassati Fellows constantly strive to live life to the full through life in and with Christ and one another. They do this through intentional commitment to growing in the Christian life and inviting others to share in that life in concrete ways.

“To always be close to Jesus, that’s my life plan.” – St. Carlo Acutis

The Saint Carlo Acutis Scholars at Thomas More University make it their ultimate life goal to be close to Jesus. The fifteen-year-old Italian saint is a shining example—as the first “Millennial Saint”—that the call to holiness is truly universal. The Acutis Scholars make this a reality in their own lives by dedicating themselves to growing and sharing the faith coupled with the study of Theology.
