Section 1: Campus Security Authority

List campus security authority personnel (definition at KRS 164.948(2)):
President, Vice President for Academic Affairs,
Chief Financial Operator and Vice President of Operations, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Dean of Student Affairs, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs,
Director of Student Engagement, Director of Campus Safety, Campus Safety Officers
Describe the extent and nature of enforcement authority of campus security authority personnel:
We do all incident reports and assist student life with any problems on campus and in the residence halls. Our reports are forwarded to the Dean of Student Affairs for any disciplinary action.
Describe the working relationship of campus security authority personnel with state and local police agencies:
We have established a good working relationship with all state and local police agencies. The local and state agencies work in conjunction with our safety personnel by providing training sessions. Timely responses to any emergency calls are also indicative of the working relationship between our safety department and police agencies.

Section 2: Description of Information Programs

Describe programs that inform students and employees about:

(a) Campus safety and security
Handouts are available throughout campus in common locations.
Annual and monthly campus safety reports are available in hard copy and online. All incoming students are presented with information about services provided by Campus Safety including safety and crime prevention techniques.
Sponsored events with the local police, fire and ems departments.
(b) How to report a crime:
Campus emergency handbook, Emergency Quick Reference Guide, the student handbook, and the residence life handbook.
By calling, anonymous tips and email. Also have contact info listed on website.
(c) How to prevent crimes:
Prevention Awareness Programs in residence halls, engraving program, key logs, electronic card locks, security cameras.

Section 3: Statements of Policies and Procedures

(a) Provide the institution’s policy statement on making Special Reports to the campus community of crimes that present a safety or security threat to students or employees. KRS 164.9481(d)
When a safety or security threat is found that may have an effect on the Thomas More Community the following will be done as soon as possible by the Director of Campus Safety. 1. A crime or safety alert will be issued by email and/or text. 2. The IT department will issue a pop-up alert on all network computers.
4. When necessary the mass notification system will be activated.
(b) If the institution provides student housing facilities, describe the institution’s procedure for disclosing the existence or nonexistence of automatic fire suppression systems in on-campus housing facilities. KRS 164.9492
All resident students are required to sign a fire suppression system notification form which is given to them along with their housing contract.
(c) If the institution provides student housing facilities, provide the institution’s policy for giving students with disabilities priority for first-floor housing. KRS 164.9495 (1)
All students with disabilities are placed in ADA complaint rooms.
(d) If the institution provides student housing facilities, describe the institution’s policy for maintaining a record of any on-campus housing assignment for students with disabilities, and the procedure for alerting safety and emergency personnel of the location of students with disabilities. KRS 164.9495 (2)
Notification from Resident Life Department is made to the office of Campus Safety. Once this notification is received a letter from the Director of Campus Safety is sent to the local agencies that would be responding to an emergency. In the letter it will state what room the individual is located. A meeting is held with the resident to determine the needs of the resident for an emergency evacuation.
