Thomas More College is seeking candidates for a full time Library Director.  The Library Director manages the overall operations of the Library, Archives and provides visionary leadership for a 21st century academic library.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Develops vision for the Library. 

Facilitates adaptation to contemporary challenges in higher education as they relate to Library.

Supervises and evaluates all regular Library and Archives staff.

Establishes work schedules and hours of operation.

Develops and maintains the Library’s collections in cooperation with TMC faculty and other Library staff.

Designs, implements and evaluates the Library’s programs of orientation and bibliographic instruction. 

Shares bibliographic instruction responsibilities with the Reference/Government Documents Librarian.

Renders reference assistance and staffs the circulation desk, as needed.

Participates in evening and weekend rotation. 

Engages in short and long-range planning for the Library.

Prepares and submits reports of Library operations for both internal and external use. 

Develops annual Library budget.

Communicates regularly with the Vice President of Academic Affairs regarding accomplishments and challenges of the Library.

Education, Specialized and/or Technical Knowledge Requirements: 

An MLS from an ALA-accredited program; a minimum of three to five years of professional academic library experience, with evidence of increasing responsibility; experience in reference, bibliographic instruction and database searching; experience with integrated library systems, preferably Voyager from Ex Libris; and a working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
