Honors Student Profiles

Nicholas A.

Nicholas is a sophomore Biological Sciences major pursing a concentration in cellular and molecular biology and a Chemistry minor. His intention is to attend medical school and become a physician. Currently, Nick undertakes medical research projects and clinical training at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. His on-campus involvement includes acting as the Vice President of Public Relations of the Student Government Association and the Treasurer of the Pre-Health Professionals Society. Outside of Thomas More College, Nick is an avid skier, mountain biker and kayaker.

Courtney N.

Courtney is a junior pursuing B.A.s in English, History, and International Studies and an Associate of Arts degree in Spanish. She enjoys being very involved in campus organizations, such as being a delegate in Student Government, working on the Words literary publication, engaging in Campus Ministry events, and serving as an executive officer in three clubs. Her poetry and prose have been been published in several outlets, including For A Better World 2015, and Words 2014, 2015, and 2016. She is currently working on a joint Fellowship project with fellow scholar Jacob Condon. She is interested in a career in politics, diplomacy, or international business.

Laura F.

Laura is a sophomore seeking a Bachelor's of Science in Biology and an Associate of Arts in History. She plans to become a physical therapist. She plays on the softball team and is the Vice President of Programming for the Student Government Association. She is also involved in Beta Beta Beta (the biological honors society), Phi Alpha Theta (the history honors society), Biology Club, Pre-Health Professionals Society, History Club, Chemistry Club, and the Pro-Life Club. She is also a student ambassador for the college.

Maria R.

Maria is a sophomore Biology major with a concentration in cellular and molecular biology and a History minor. She currently works at Cincinnati Children's Hospital within the Hospital/Physician Billing department as a Cash Poster. She also does research at Children's within the Department of Asthma Research and volunteers there with the Josh Cares program. Maria is the Vice-President of Finance for the Student Government Association of Thomas More College, the Treasurer of the Biology Club, and a member of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honors Society. She plans to attend medical school upon graduation.

Jenna W.

Jenna is a first-year student studying Middle School Science and Language Arts Education. She hopes to add a study in Guidance Counseling as well in the future.

David T.

David is a first-year student studying Mathematics and Education. He is a member of the Math/Physics Club on campus. He plans to teach math on the post-secondary level, and is currently working with the State Independent Living Council to advocate for disabled citizens.

Daniel S.

Daniel is a senior pursuing a major in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics. He has a love for the world of writing as well, with multiple works featured in the college's Words literary collections. He hopes to find a career in software development or database management, and also plans on continuing to write as a hobby. He currently works at the Thomas More library as a front desk assisstant.

Laura F.

Laura is a junior Biology major with a concentration in the cellular and molecular aspects of biological sciences. At Thomas More, she is a member of the women's soccer team and is a mentor at John G. Carlisle Elementary School in Covington, KY to third grade students. In the summer of 2016, Laura will be interning at the National Institutes of Health in the Clinical Center Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, Nuclear Medicine Section. After graduation, she plans to attend to graduate school and achieve a doctorate degree in molecular biology to pursue a career in the field of biomedical research.

Rachel W.

Rachel is a sophomore who is double majoring in Creative Writing and International Studies. She runs for the track team and participates in the Political Science Club, History Club, French Club, and Art Club. Her dream is to become a published author.

Sofie V.

Sofie is a sophomore pursuing degrees in Middle School Education and Theatre Education. She is involved in campus ministry and the Villa Players. She hopes to integrate her theatre experience into a career teaching middle school language arts and social studies.

Jacob C.

Jacob is a senior Art major. He is a founding member of Thomas More College's Art Club, and served as the president of the club for two years. He's had his art included in Words (the literary publication of the college), including the cover of Words 2013, and has had art displayed at the Semantics Gallery and 1305 Gallery in Cincinnati.

Megan B.

Megan is a junior Mathematics major with a concentration in actuarial science. She hopes to pursue a job in the actuary profession as she focuses on the completion of the first actuary exams while still in college. A member of the women's soccer and track and field teams, she also maintains leadership roles with the Math and Physics Club, Business Society, and Student Government Association.
