Together We Will Remain Healthy at Thomas More (February 1, 2021)

Dear Thomas More Community,

The number of Covid cases has increased slightly since last week but remain in the Low Alert Threshold. We currently have 14 positive cases and 45 individuals in quarantine. We have been informed that the Commonwealth has identified the more contagious variants of the virus in our area. Though none of the 14 positive cases have been identified as variants of the virus, we must be more vigilant in our actions and behaviors. It is imperative that all individuals who are experiencing symptoms or have been exposed to Covid-19 notify Campus Safety at 859.341.4867. As a reminder, symptoms include:

  • Cough
  • Difficulty breathing/shortness of breath
  • New onset of loss of taste or smell
  • Fever of 100.4 or greater
  • Any two of the following:
  • Chills
  • Muscle aches
  • Runny nose
  • Congestion
  • Sore throat
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Headache
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea (3 or more, looser than normal, stools in 24 hours)

The NKY Vaccination Collaborate (NKY Health, St. Elizabeth Healthcare, and HealthPoint) has been leading vaccination in northern Kentucky. They have done an excellent job distributing the vaccine and are currently focused on individuals 70 and over (Phase 1B). Quantities of the vaccine remain extremely limited, and they anticipate it will be several more weeks before individuals in Phase 1C are able to be vaccinated. As a reminder, all Thomas More employees are eligible as part of Phase 1C regardless of home residence. Students will follow the Kentucky vaccine distribution plan (schedule below) contingent upon age and CDC highest risk condition. We encourage anyone currently eligible in their home state to pursue vaccination in consultation with their health care provider.

We will continue to keep you informed of the vaccination plans. In the meantime, please continue to follow our Healthy at Thomas More protocols and reach out to the Covid Response Team with any questions or concerns.

Best, President Chillo
