Degree Requirements

*The requirements below apply to all Athletic Training majors through Fall 2017. For students entering in Fall 2017 or later, please contact the Athletic Training Department for specific requirements.

REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ATHLETIC TRAINING

Upon successful completion of the appropriate courses students will graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training, however will not be eligible to sit for the National Board of Certification Exam to become a certified athletic trainer.

  • All students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and a major GPA of 2.75.
  • Athletic Training Courses (40 hours) - ATP 108, ATP 110, ATP 220, ATP 224, ATP 250, ATP 290, ATP 291, ATP 460, ATP 480, ATP 490, ATP 501, ATP 510, ATP 511
  • Supporting Courses (36 hours) - BIO 207, BIO 211, BIO 211/L, BIO 212, BIO 212/L, BIO 214, CHE 103, CHE 103/L, CHE 104, CHE 104/L, MAT 205, NUR 103, NUR 204/L, PSY 105, PSY 230

REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ATHLETIC TRAINING

Upon successful completion of the following requirements student will graduate with a Master of Science Degree in Athletic Training, and will achieve eligibility to sit for the National Board of Certification Exam to become a certified athletic trainer.

  • Students must complete the Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training to continue onto the fifth year of the program, which includes only Graduate level courses. See the curriculum guide for additional information.
  • All students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Athletic Training Courses (37 hours) - ATP 502, ATP 520, ATP 540, ATP 550, ATP 580, ATP 581, ATP 590, ATP 591, ATP 592
