Dr. McNutt received his bachelor’s degree from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York in 1977. Setting his sights on a teaching career, Dr. McNutt earned a Master of Arts in Theology from Colgate Rochester Divinity School in 1987, a Master in Divinity from United Theological Seminary in 1989 and his Ph.D. in Early Modern European History from The Ohio State University in 1995. Dr. McNutt has been teaching at Thomas More College at various levels since fall semester 1995. His specialization is Renaissance and Reformation History, together with Holocaust studies. He is the coordinator of the Recognition Grant division of the James Graham Brown Honors Program. With respect for Thomas More College’s ecumenical perspective, Dr. McNutt enjoys critically exploring the Roman Catholic intellectual tradition, and presenting the elements of human truth within that heritage to history students. Continuing active research, he has published in the area of Luther studies and Christian anti-Semitism. Dr. McNutt firmly believes in the value of college athletics as a viable tool for the development of discipline needed for the rigors of academic work. He takes special interest in challenging student athletes to excel in the classroom.
