Recommended Timeline and Sequence

Alternative Certification, Option 6 (Track I)

For candidates with a certifiable major who are currently teaching in their designated content area.

35 Total Hours for Program

PRAXIS Requirements: (1) Students must have a passing score on PRAXIS II Content Knowledge before admission. Failure to pass the PRAXIS II Content exam will prevent issuance of the temporary provisional certificate. (2) Students must have a passing score on the appropriate PRAXIS II Principles of Learning and Teaching Test before enrolling in the last class of the program.

Not passing the PRAXIS II Content Exam will prevent issuing of the Statement of Eligibility required to participate in the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program. Students must successfully pass KTIP in order to receive the first five-year professional certificate.

Traditional Alternative Program (Track II)

For candidates with a certifiable major who are not currently teaching in their designated content area or who are currently employed in another profession.

35 Total Hours for Program
