Student in classroom

It is an exciting and overwhelming time when a child transitions into college. The role of you, as a parent, will be shifting; understanding how to best support your child as they grow into adulthood is essential. Supporting your student as they learn to self-advocate if part of this new role which may be difficult since you have been their primary advocate and best champion for success. Encouraging your student to use the resources available to them, helping them develop the language to express their needs, and allowing them to practice their developing advocacy skills is a wonderful way to begin their transition. You are encouraged to reach out to the Institute for Learning Differences if you have any questions or need guidance as you work to support your child on this new adventure.
