Thomas More Women’s Tennis Team Drops PAC Opener to Westminster
(HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.) The Thomas More women’s tennis team fell, 9-0, to Westminster College today (Saturday, September 6, 2008) in its Presidents’ Athletic Conference season opener at the Northern Kentucky University Courts in Highland Heights, Kentucky.
With the loss the Saints fall to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the PAC and with the win Westminster improves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the PAC.
The Saints dropped six singles matches as freshman Lauren Race fell 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1, senior Monica Pharo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mt. Notre Dame) fell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, junior Lindsey Burns (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) fell 6-1, 6-1, at No.3, sophomore Brittaney Knapp (Covington, Ky./Covington Latin) fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4, senior Kristina Behne (Burlington, Ky./Conner) fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and senior Annie Casey fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
In doubles action, Race and Pharo fell, 8-1, at No. 1, Burns and Knapp fell, 8-2, at No. 2 and Behne and Casey fell, 8-0, at No. 3.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday, September 10 when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to play the College of Mount St. Joseph at 4 p.m.
