Crushing Defeat
With a goal in the 81st minute, Thomas More's record-setting season came to an unceremonious end with a 1-0 loss to Washington & Jefferson in the 2007 Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament.
Thomas More, which set school records with 13 shutout victories and 16 victories, ends the season at 16-3. It's the second straight season in which the Saints went through the regular season unbeaten and fell short of claiming the tournament crown, and this season - the automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. The third time was the charm for the Presidents', who had Thomas More end their season in each of the last two years.
The winning goal came following W&J's fifth corner of the game as a Presidents' player got the ball and hit it off the bar. The clearing pass hit a Thomas More player and right to the foot of the awaiting W&J player - who put the ball in the back of the net for the win.
