Saints Fall, 3-1, to Earlham in Richmond
(RICHMOND, Ind.) The Thomas More College women’s soccer team fell, 3-1, to Earlham College tonight (Friday, September 05, 2008) in Richmond, Indiana.
With the loss the Saints fall to 2-1 on the season and with the win the Quakers improve to 3-1.
Then Earlham took a 3-0 lead with a goal at the 50:30 mark. Junior forward Deana Goshdigian (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) then got the Saints on the scoreboard scoring a goal on a penalty kick at the 77:19 mark of the game.
Offensively for the Saints, Goshdigian had three shots on goal and junior midfielder Kaitlyn Cohen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had two shots on goal.
Junior Jenna Kramer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) took the loss in goal as she gave up three goals, but also recorded eight saves.
The Saints return to action on Saturday (September 7, 2008) when they travel to Franklin, Indiana to play Franklin College at 3 p.m. in the first game of a men’s and women’s doubleheader.

Thomas More Women’s Soccer Team Defeats Hanover, 5-0
(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) Junior forward Deanna Goshdigian (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) and freshman forward Lauren Wietmarschen (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) each scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Thomas More College women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Hanover College today (Tuesday, September 02, 2008) at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win the Saints improve to 2-0 and with the loss the Panthers fall to 1-1.
In the first half, Wietmarschen got the Saints on the board first when she scored from 25-yards out at the 6:54 mark. Then Goshdigian increased the lead to 2-0 when scored unassisted from 10-yards out at the 30:49 mark. The Saints would hold onto the 2-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Saints increased their lead to 3-0 at the 46:45 mark when sophomore midfielder Toria Cross (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) scored off an assist from Wietmarschen. Ten seconds later Goshdigian scored at the 46:55 mark to increase the lead to 4-0. Then Wietmarschen closed out the scoring when she scored off a cross from Goshdigian at the 58:32 mark.
Junior Jenna Kramer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and freshman Katie Burger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) combined for the shutout in goal. Kramer played 67 minutes and recorded one save to earn the win and Burger played the final 23 mintues and recorded a save.
The Saints outshot the Panthers, 34-6, and won the battle of corner kicks, 8-2.
The Saints return to action on Friday (September 5, 2008) when they travel to Richmond, Indiana to play the Earlham College Quakers at 5 p.m.

Saints Win First Game Played at The Bank of Kentucky Field
(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) Junior forward Deanna Goshdigian (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) scored her second goal of the match with 36 seconds left in the first overtime period to give the Thomas More College women’s soccer team a 2-1 comeback victory over Capital University in the first soccer match played at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
In the first half, the Crusaders got on the board early as they scored a goal at the 8:01 mark to take a 1-0 lead. Neither team could find the net the rest of the first half, and Capital led 1-0 at halftime.
As the teams returned to the field in the second half a thunderstorm rolled into Crestview Hills and three minutes into action the match went into a thunderstorm delay. After a 2:25 delay, the teams returned to action. As played restarted both teams exchanged shots until the 74:39 mark when Goshdigian scored the Saints’ game-tying goal from 20-yards out. Then at the 99:24 mark, Goshdigian scored the game-winning goal off a corner kick.
Junior transfer Jenna Kramer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) played all 99:24 in goal as she recorded five saves while only allowing one goal to earn the win.
The Saints are now 1-0 at The Bank of Kentucky Field as this was the first soccer match on campus in the last 10 years.
Thomas More returns to action on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 when it hosts Hanover College at 5 p.m. at The Bank of Kentucky Field
