Women's Golfer Nominee for Woman Athlete of the Year
Lynn Thompson among 12 athletes nationwide considered for prestigious award.

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Kentucky Thomas More women's golfer Lynn Thompson was selected to represent all of NCAA Division III in women's golf as the golf nominee for the 2001-2002 Division III Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year. The honor is a part of the Honda Awards Program that annually honors the outstanding collegiate women athletes.
Thompson was one of only 12 nominees chosen from among all NCAA Division III schools. After nationwide balloting, Julie Bergofsky, a lacrosse player from Middlebury College was chosen as the recipient.
As a result of her nomination, Thompson and Thomas More College will be honored by name visually during the Collegiate Women Athlete of the Year Banquet June 17, 2002 at the NACDA Convention in Dallas, Texas. In addition to the honor of this nomination, the Honda Awards Program will donate $1,000 to the women?s athletic fund at Thomas More College in late September.
This is one of the many honors and achievements that have continued to highlight an outstanding spring for junior Lynn Thompson. Thompson, who won the 2002 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Individual Championship, was also named the 2002 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Division III Player of the Year that earned her a spot as a First-Team All-American.
