Saints Place Five on All-PAC Teams
(WEXFORD, Pa.) –Thomas More College has five women’s basketball student-athletes named All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) on Friday (February 27, 2009) by the Conference office.
Two Saints were named first team All-PAC as sophomore center Nicole Dickman (Park Hills, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) and senior guard Jayme Thiem (Cold Spring, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) were both named to the team. Dickman leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 14.6 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. She also leads the nation in field goals percentage as she is 62.9 percent from the floor on 168-of-267 shooting from the field. Dickman is also third in the PAC in blocked shots with 42. This season, she was named PAC Player of the Week three times. Thiem, a repeat first team honoree, is second on the team in scoring and rebounding with 14.0 ppg., and 5.9 rpg. She leads the PAC at the free-throw line this season as she has connected on 88.7 (110-of-124) at the line. Thiem is also second on the team and fifth in the PAC in assists as she has dished out 107 assists.
Senior forward Kristen Humphrey (New Richmond, Ohio/Cincinnati Christian Hills Academy) was the lone Saint on the second team. She is third on the team in both scoring and rebounding with 10.1 ppg., and 4.6 rpg. Humphrey is currently third in the PAC in field goal percentage as she has connected on 54.5 percent of her shots from the floor. This is third time in her career she has been named All-PAC as she was named honorable mention as a sophomore and named to the first team her junior season.
Two Saints were named honorable mention All-PAC as senior guards Alex Gee (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este) and Gabby Johnson (McCordsville, Ind./Mt. Vernon) received the honor. Gee is averaging 8.2 points per game and leads the PAC in three-point field goals percentage (41.3 percent) and three-point field goals made (64). She enters the NCAA Tournament second in school history with career three-pointers with 241 and only needs one to tie the school record of 242 and two to become the all-time school leader in three-pointers. Johnson averages 5.8 ppg., and scored a career-high 19 points this season against Westminster. She is currently third in the PAC in assists with 127 and is heading into the NCAA Tournament third in school history with 314 career assists.
The ninth-ranked Saints will be back in action this week when they play in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Saints will find out their opponent and game site on Monday (March 2, 2009) between 11 a.m. and 12 noon. (Complete All-PAC Teams)
