Saints Fall, 3-1, to St. Mary's (Minn.) in First Round of NCAA Tournament

(ST. LOUIS, Mo.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team fell, 3-1, to St. Mary's (Minn.) University tonight (Thursday, November 12, 2009) in the first round of the Central Regional of the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament hosted by Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.  St. Mary's won by the scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-20 and 27-25.

With the loss the Saints end the season at 28-11 overall and with the win the Cardinals improve to 22-9 and will play either Washington University or Webster University tomorrow in St. Louis.

Offensively, the Saints were led by sophomore outside hitter Brandi Corbello (Florence, Ky./Boone County) with 10 kills.  Sophomore outside hitter Aimee Ryan (Taylor Mill, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) added eight kills, while junior outside hitter Lindsay Svec (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and sophomore setter Emily Bohman (Yorkshire, Ohio/Versailles) each had six kills.  Bohman also finished with 32 set assists and three service aces.  Defensively, Svec and Ryan each finished with three total blocks.  Freshman defensive specialist Danielle Beckenhaupt (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the team with 19 digs, while freshman outside hitter Hanna Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had 12 and Bohman and Corbello each added 10.

The NCAA Tournament appearance was the Saints' ninth since joining the NCAA in 1990.
