Bors and Weis Named NFCA All-Central Region
(STARKVILLE, Miss.) - Thomas More College sophomore pitcher Dana Bors (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) and senior catcher Jennifer Weis (Union, Ky./Ryle) have been named 2009 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Central Region.
Bors was named second team All-Central Region by the region’s coaches. She leads the PAC in strikeouts (152) and earned run average (0.95). Bors’ strikeouts and ERA this season are also a single-season school records at Thomas More. She has helped her cause at the plate this season as she is second on the team with a .381 batting average with five doubles, a home run and 10 RBI.
Weis was an honorable mention All-Central Region by the coaches. She leads the team with a .409 batting average and is firs in the PAC in hits with 56, RBI with 57 and is second on the team with home runs with 11 and runs scored with 40.
Bors, Weis and the rest of the Saints will be in action this Thursday (May 7) when they travel to Greencastle, Indiana to play Adrian (Mich.) College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Tournament. The first pitch is scheduled for 12 noon at the DePauw University Softball Field.
