Bramhall named Coach of the year, bors Named MVP and Six Named All-PAC
(WEXFORD, Pa.) -
Thomas More College head softball coach Lindsay Bramhall was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Coach of the Year, sophomore pitcher Dana Bors (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) was named PAC Most Valuable Player (MVP) and six Saints were named All-PAC on Tuesday (May 5, 2009) by the Conference office.
Bramhall, in her first season at Thomas More, has led the team to a school-best 34-9 record and the program’s third-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Tournament. Along the way the Saints won the 2009 PAC regular season and tournament titles.
Bors, who was named MVP, was also named first team All-PAC. She leads the PAC in strikeouts (152) and earned run average (0.95). Bors’ strikeouts and ERA this season are also a single-season school records at Thomas More. She has helped her cause at the plate this season as she is second on the team with a .381 batting average with five doubles, a home run and 10 RBI.
Joining Bors on the All-PAC first team was senior catcher Jennifer Weis (Union, Ky./Ryle), freshman first baseman Brittany Wegman (West Harrison, Ind./East Central), senior right fielder Kim Prahl (Rineyville, Ky./John Hardin) and sophomore pitcher Samantha Ladenburger (Felicity, Ohio/Felicity-Franklin). Weis, leads the team with a .409 batting average and is firs in the PAC in hits with 56, RBI with 57 and is second on the team with home runs with 11 and runs scored with 40. Wegman leads the PAC in home runs with a single-season school record 12, is second in the PAC in RBI with 47 and fourth in the PAC in runs scored with 34. Prahl is third on the team with a .354, is second in the PAC in triples with a single-season school record-tying five and is first on the team with 16 doubles. Ladenburger has a 2.00 ERA as she has pitched a single-season school record 140.1 innings and has a single-season school record-tying 16 wins.
Named second team All-PAC was senior second baseman Jennifer Lang (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton). She is batting .322 as she is second on the team in at-bats (143) and in hits (46) and is fourth on the team in RBI with 23.
The Saints will be in action this Thursday (May 7) when they travel to Greencastle, Indiana to play Adrian (Mich.) College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Tournament. The first pitch is scheduled for 12 noon at the DePauw University Softball Field. (Complete All-PAC Teams)
