Marco Rosas Scores First Career Goal in Saints' 1-0 Season Opening Win at Earlham

(RICHMOND, Ind.) - Freshman forward Marco Rosas (Kennesaw, Ga./Harrison) scored his first career goal in his first collegiate match to lead the Thomas More College men's soccer team to a, 1-0, shutout win over Earlham College today (Wednesday, September 1, 2010) in both team's season opener in Richmond, Indiana.

With the win, the Saints improve to 1-0 and with the loss, the Quakers fall to 0-1.

After 74 minutes of scoreless play, Rosas scored the lone goal of the match at the 74:20 mark on header from a throw-in from senior midfielder Dan Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder).

Senior Zack Lawson (Frankfort, Ky./Frankfort) posted the shutout win in goal as he played all 90 minutes and recorded three saves. 

Thomas More outshot the Earlham, 12-6, and won the battle of corner kicks, 6-4.

The Saints return to action on Saturday (September 4) when they travel to Anderson, Indiana for a 2 p.m. nonconference match with Anderson University.
