Saints Fall, 2-1, to W&J in Overtime in a PAC Semi-Final Match

(WASHINGTON, Pa.)  – The third-seeded Thomas More College men’s soccer team fell to second-seeded Washington & Jefferson College, 2-1, in overtime in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference Tournament sem-final match in Washington, Pennsylvania.

Both teams couldn’t find the back of the net in the first half and played to a 0-0 tie at halftime.  Then the Saints took a 1-0 lead at the 49:27 mark when sophomore forwa ard Aaron Osborne (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) scored an unassisted goal.  The Presidents came back and tied the score at 1-1 when Josh Weber scored off an assist from Jeremy Delmaster at the 65:27 mark.  

Neither team would score over the final 24:33 of regulation the match went into overtime.  As it looked like the match would go to a second over time W&J won the match on a goal by Christopher Skoriva at the 98:04 mark.

Senior goalkeeper Matt Koopman (Pleasant Hill, Ohio/Newton) played all 98:04 in goal and took the loss as he recorded six saves, but gave up two goals.  The Presidents outshot the Saints, 17-11, and won the battle of corner kicks, 7-5.

The Saints end the season at 13-5 overall and the Presidents improve to 9-6-4 overall and advance to the PAC Tournament Championship match.
