Saints Fire Second Round 304 to Make Cut in First-Ever NCAA Championship

(HERSHEY, Pa.) - The Thomas More College men's golf team made the cut today (Wednesday, May 12, 2010) in its first-ever NCAA Division III Championship as it shot a second round 304 on the par-72, 6,837-yard Hershey Links layout in Hershey, Pennsylvania for a two-round total of 626 to sit in 23rd spot in the 37-team championship.

The Saints are led by senior Joe Ruzick (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle), who is tied for 43rd individually with a 153 (81-72).  Two other Saints are in the top-70 as sophomore Jarrett Gronauer (West Chester, Ohio/Moeller) is tied for 51st with a 154 (80-74) and junior Brandon Dulle (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) is tied for 62nd with a 155 (78-77).  Rounding out the Saints' golfers is junior Jacob Bowman (Latonia, Ky./Holy Cross) in a tie for 144th with a 164 (83-81) and sophomore Mike Pharo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) in a tie for 159th with a 166 (84-82.).

Top-ranked Methodist University leads the championship with a two-round total of 597 (307-290).  Claremont Mudd Scripps' Tain Lee is the low individual with a 138 (69-69).

The championship plays the final two rounds at Hershey Links.  The Saints will tee-off at 1 p.m. on hole number 10 in the third round tomorrow (May 13).
