Ellenwood Named Coach of the Year and Three Saints Named All-PAC
(WEXFORD, Pa.) –Thomas More College head men’s basketball coach John Ellenwood was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Coach of the Year and three Saints were named All-PAC on Tuesday (March 3, 2009) by the Conference office.
Ellenwood, in his third season at Thomas More, led the Saints to the 2008-2009 PAC regular season and tournament titles and earned the program’s first-ever bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 19-8 record. He is 33-47 in his three seasons on the Saints’ sidelines.
Three Saints were named second team All-PAC as sophomore wing Daniel McKeehan (Mainesville, Ohio/Little Miami), senior guard Romell Salone (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) and senior forward Mark Tinklenberg (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) were all named to the team. McKeehan leads the team in scoring with 11.7 points per game and is second in rebounding with 4.6 rpg and steals with 38. He also leads the PAC in field goal percentage as he is shooting 60.7 percent on 111-of-183 shooting. Salone is third on the team in scoring and rebounding with 9.8 ppg and 3.7 rpg. He is first on the team in assists with 58 and second in steals with 39 and field goal percentage as he is shooting 58.2 percent from the field. Tinklenberg is second on the team in scoring with 10.6 ppg and is first in rebounding with 4.69 rpg. He is also second on the team in blocks with 12 and assists with 53. This is the second time in his career he has been named All-PAC as he was named to the second team last season also.
The Saints will be back in action on Friday (March 6, 2009) when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to play Capital University in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The game will tip-off at 8 p.m. at The Capital Center. (Complete All-PAC Teams)
