Two Saints Win PAC Weekly Honors
(WEXFORD, Pa.) - Two Thomas More College student-athletes earned weekly Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) honors today (Monday, April 6, 2009) as junior pitcher Kyle Wewe (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) was named the PAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week and freshman Jarrett Gronauer (West Chester, Ohio/Moeller) was named PAC Men's Golfer of the Week.
Wewe in his only action of the week, pitched a five-hit, complete game shutout for the Saints in a 10-0 PAC road victory over Thiel. He walked just one batter while striking out three in the decision.
Gronauer averaged 78.25 over four rounds last week as he finished int he individual Top-10 at bot the Bellarmine University Intercollegiate and the Mount St. Joseph Invitational. He tied for 10th out of 38 golfers at Bellarmine with a 156 (76-80), then finished fifth out of 66 at the MSJ Invitational by carding a 157 (79-78).
Wewe and the rest of the baseball team open a seven game homestand on Wednesday (April 8) when they host Centre College at 4 p.m. at Thomas More Field and Gronauer and the men's golf team are idle until Monday, April 13 when they play in the first round of the Emory University Invitational in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
