Saints Sweep PAC Weekly Awards
(WEXFORD, Pa.) - Thomas More College swept the Presidents' Athletic Conference's (PAC) weekly baseball honors as senior third baseman Jake Brown (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was named the PAC Hitter of the Week and freshman pitcher Paul Uhl (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) was named the PAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday (March 16, 2009) by the conference office.
Brown batted .500 (11-for-22) with two home runs, three doubles and 11 run batted-in for the Saints, who posted a 4-1 record in Florida last week with the lone loss being a 4-3 defeat to preseason No. 1-ranked Cortland State. In five games, he posted a .909 slugging percentage for Thomas More.
Uhl posted an 0.000 ERA in five innings of work for the 4-1 Saints last week at the Central Florida Invitational, as he gave up two runs (both unearned) on six hits while walking two and striking out eight batters.
Brown, Uhl and the rest of the Saints will host Hanover College today (Tuesday, March 17, 2009) in their home opener at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
